An immersive world honouring the Maison’s 100 years of history and heritage
Adding a new tassel to Loro Piana’s centenary celebrations, the 100-Year Pop-Ups invite customers on a unique journey – from the most precious fibres in the world to refined garments of unparalleled sensoriality. Animated with anniversary-themed displays as well as exclusive props and tools drawn from the Maison’s world of savoir-faire, the windows and interiors provide a glimpse into the House’s time-honoured craftsmanship and historical archives, serving as keepsakes of a unique textile tradition. Oak bookcases are overseen by lacquered puppets, together recreating the Archivio Storico in Varallo, Italy, while vintage advertising imagery in black and white are pinned to a central linen-upholstered panel, creating a mood board from the past. Iconic silhouettes and design cues such as the Belt pattern – initially reserved for garment linings and now decorating select pieces of furniture – lend a discerning feel to the installations.
The pop-ups are thoughtfully designed to pay homage to the Maison’s 100 years of history and heritage, a rich legacy that all began in Piedmont, Italy, when Giacomo Loro Piana started selling fabrics. The family later transferred to Quarona, where Giacomo’s grandson Pietro Loro Piana officially founded the Maison in 1924, Ing. Loro Piana & Co, and started producing fabrics. In 1941 his nephew, Franco Loro Piana took over the reins, carving out a reputation for premium woollen fabrics. Entering the sixth generation of the family, the brilliant and complementary brothers Pier Luigi and Sergio Loro Piana took the lead. Sergio was a true visionary, whose remarkable sense of style and creativity propelled the House to new heights. His curiousity and way of life inspired all the most iconic garments. Pier Luigi, with his visionary, adventurous spirit, and technical expertise, travelled the globe in search of the finest raw materials. Together, they laid the foundations for a now-iconic Maison that has been under the wings of LVMH since 2013.
